‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’ runs into legal trouble

KARACHI: Upcoming Pakistani movie, Paarwaz Hai Junoon featuring Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir and Shaz Khan among others seems to have landed itself in legal trouble.

According to reports, the wardrobe stylist of the film, Soomar Rehman, has sued the production house behind the film, MD Productions, for not giving him credit for his work in the promotional materials of the film so far. As as a result, the court has restrained the release on any promotional content of the film.

A legal notice which was sent to MD Productions stated that Soomar was employed under a two-year contract from December 2016 as “creative manager & wardrobe stylish” for Parwaaz Hai Junoon. However, his employment was terminated over a phone call dated August 31, 2017; the reason being that the project for which was hired had been completed.

Furthermore, the legal notice elaborated that Rehman was not given his due credit in any of the promotional materials of the film and instead two individuals “who never performed any role in the movie” were named.

Currently, the court has directed MD Productions to not release any more promotional materials before the next hearing on Monday.

Soomar wants the production house to issue him a public apology and to give him his due credit.

As of now, the production house has refrained to comment on the matter.
