KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khowaja on Thursday ordered top police officials to adopt high security measures for the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
The IGP instructed the officials to strengthen security on all the highways, border areas, and entry exit points of the province, as a large number of devotees from other provinces expected to participate in the annual Urs. He instructed for strict surveillance and patrolling at police station level throughout the province.
Khawaja further directed the officers concerned to ensure strict security at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and its surrounding areas besides coordinating with organisers. He ordered the police to get clearance of the shrine premises from Bomb Disposal Squad and ensure intelligence collection at all levels.
A strategy should be devised according to which the parking of vehicles should be prohibited on the roads leading to the shrine while proper parking places should be reserved for devotees.
The police chief directed the relevant SSPs to monitor the security measures of the event from start to end by themselves and ensure provision of all required facilities to the deployed police officers and personnel.
