Another varsity student goes missing in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A student of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad has gone missing on her way back home from university, it was reported on Friday.

According to details, the missing student Basanti’s brother, Lal Krishan said that his sister left the university on April 29 but never reached home.

He said that he could not get through to her even on phone. Police filed a case of abduction against unidentified persons, following Krishan’s complaint, and started searching for the missing woman.

Basanti was doing her masters in Zoology at the university.

In March, Abida, a student of MA English at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), went missing in a similar manner.

Abida went missing on March 25 and her dead body was recovered from Djikot, with initial post-mortem report suggesting she was raped before being murdered.

Police inaction has led to a protest by the class-fellows of Abida, who came out to the streets demanding justice.

Raising slogans, the protestors demanded those responsible for this heinous crime should be arrested immediately and given an exemplary punishment.

Meanwhile, social media users are using the hashtag #JusticeForAbida on Twitter to demand swift action against the culprit(s).

The National Commission for Human Rights also took notice of the incident while the accused still remain at large.
