Mufti Abdul Qavi, among five suspects, was indicted by a Multan court on Thursday in the case pertaining to the murder of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch.

All the five accused, however, pleaded not guilty after charges were read out to them by Sessions Court Judge Sardar Iqbal Dogar during the hearing.

The hearing was then adjourned till May 14.

Last year, Mufti Qavi was granted bail by District and Sessions Judge Ameer Mohammad Khan on a Rs200,000 surety bond after listening to the argument of his counsel, Akbar Bhutta, in a Multan court.

Later while speaking to reporters outside the court, Bhutta said his client could be released the same day.

Qandeel was strangled to death by her brother Muhammad Waseem and cousin Haq Nawaz in the name of ‘honour’ in July 2016, weeks after posting selfies with Qavi on social media.
