Met dept issues heatwave warning for several cities

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday, issued a  heatwave warning for several cities in the country.

According to PMD, the temperature is likely to reach 45 Celsius in the southern half of the country in the next few days. The humidity level is expected to remain between 65 to 75 percent.

Spokesperson of the weather department stated that Pakistan had seen an increase of 2 Celsius in the month of April which was unprecedented.

Earlier on Monday, Nawabshah with a temperature of 122.4 degrees (50.2 Celsius) became the hottest city on Earth during April.

Nawabshah had the highest temperature ever reliably measured on the planet for the month of April, according to The Washington Post, which cited Etienne Kapikian, a meteorologist at Meteo France.

Kapikian tweeted that it was the warmest April temperature ever recorded in Pakistan and for the entire Asian continent.
