Is Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham actually getting a TV remake?

Indian soap opera queen, Ekta Kapoor’s next TV production is supposedly a remake of Karan Johar’s starstudded 2001 family-drama, Mumbai Mirror has reported.

The show which has been titled Dil Hi Toh Hai is expected to go on air on Sony in the next two months.

A source reveals, “Bijoy Anand, who played Kajol’s wayward fiancé in the 1998 romcom Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha, has been cast to play Amitabh Bachchan’s patriarch, Yashvardhan Raichand, while Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi actress Erica Fernandes is in talks to play either Kajol’s talkative Anjali or her younger sister, Pooja (popularised by Kareena as ‘Poo’). The part will be finalised after a look test.”

Meanwhile, rumours are that Rajat Tokas (of TV serial Jodha Akbar fame) has been approached to play Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Rahul Raichand and Varun Sood for the part of his younger Rohan, which was essayed by Hrithik Roshan in the film.

Ekta had shared recently, “A family soap after years! Mostly done love stories recently with the backdrop of family! This soap will air on Sony… a family that accepts each other stays together.”

Despite everything, at the end of the day, nothing can come close to the enigma that Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham is!
