–CM discusses international political situation, bilateral ties with Iranian envoy
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the party would unveil as much as 11,000 development schemes against Imran Khan’s eleven-point agenda.
Speaking to members of the national as well provincial assemblies, who called on him, the chief minister said the PML-N had burnt the midnight oil to fulfill the development agenda aimed at public welfare.
“PML-N has won the hearts of the people owing to its records of public service and it will stand victorious in the 2018 elections due to its development agenda,” said Shehbaz and added that the people would vote for the PML-N on the basis of its immaculate performance.
The chief minister maintained that he had dedicated his life and death to the people. He also said the development agenda successfully implemented in Punjab would also be applied across the country. Shehbaz said that the PML-N led government had fully served the people for the past ten years in Punjab and the province was ahead of others in terms of progress and composite development.
Earlier, the parliamentarians discussed the overall political situation as well as various issues related to development projects with the PML-N president. They congratulated Shehbaz over his successful political visits to Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and expressed full confidence in his leadership.
They said the PML-N would win the upcoming elections with a thumping majority under the leadership of Shehbaz for he had won the hearts of the people with a spate of welfare-oriented initiatives and development programmes.
Among the lawmakers who called on the chief minister were MNA Dr Shizra Mansab Ali Khan Kharl, MNA Syed Muhammad Asghar, MPA Dr Nadia Aziz, MPA Mian Muhammad Azam Chela, MPA Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha and MPA Malik Azizul Haq.
Separately, ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Mehdi Honardoost called on Chief Minister Shehbaz on Wednesday and discussed key issues of bilateral interests including international political situation, problems being faced by the Muslim ummah and prospects of enhanced bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Iranian Ambassador congratulated Shehbaz over becoming the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and said that vast opportunities of Pakistan-Iran trade existed and the volume of trade could be enhanced by expanding bilateral cooperation.
He also said that the Muslim world was going through a critical period of time and the conspiracies would have to be countered jointly.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that meeting Mehdi Honardoost had always been a delightful occasion for him. He also said that further improvements in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran was the need of the hour.
“Iran is not only an important neighboring country but mutual relations between the two countries are intricately conjoined in strong bonds of love and affection,” said Shehbaz and added that the graph of Pakistan-Iran relations should not go down in any case.
“Both the countries will have to work collectively for the greater cause of mutual success, development and prosperity of the people,” he maintained.
The meeting was also attended by Iranian consul general in Lahore, Majid Sadeghi Dowlatabadi, Political Consular Mehmood Baladi, Economic Secretary Mohsin Fateh Abar, Economic Consular Mehdi Abedini, Khawaja Ahmed Hassan and others.
