Karachi school becomes 1st Pakistani school to have AstroTurf hockey field

KARACHI: Going against the culture of weak sports structure in Pakistani schools, one institution, Habib Public School Karachi, became the first school in Pakistan to have an AstroTurf hockey field.

The turf was imported from the UK and TS Builders installed it. The ground also has a Tartan track.

The ground was inaugurated on April 21 with a star-studded, comprising local legends, hockey match. Legendary Pakistani players including Hassan Sardar, Asim Abbasi, Fazal-e-Kashif, Salman Wahab, Qamar Ibrahim and Safdar Abbas participated in the match.

The school is famous for producing one of the best hockey player in the world, Sohail Abbas, who is the highest goal scorer in the history of field hockey.
