AJK PM accuses India of using chemical weapons against Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Wednesday accused the Indian forces in the occupied valley of using weapons containing chemical agents against the innocent civilians.

During his visit to the office of All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Islamabad, he said, “There are evidences that Indian forces deployed in Kashmir had been using weapons that contain chemical agents in Kashmir.

PM Haider added, “We demand an independent investigation into the alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians in Indian-held Kashmir and gross violation of human rights of Kashmiri people by Indian forces.”

He said India cannot lessen Kashmiris’ love for Pakistan with coercion and oppression, terming Kashmiri people’s struggle as “struggle to complete Pakistan”. He alleged that use of chemical weapons is worst kind of persecution that put the lives of entire population in danger.

The AJK prime minister assured the Hurriyat leadership that reinforcing Kashmir liberation struggle would remain the top priority of AJK government and all available resources would be utilised for this purpose.

The government in the base camp of Kashmir liberation struggle would consult Hurriyat leaders in matters relating to Kashmir freedom movement. The prime minister also assured that problems being faced by the refugees from occupied part of Kashmir would be solved on priority basis.

He paid tributes to Yaseen Malik, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Shabir Ahamed Shah and other Hurriyat leaders. PM Haider said that these Kashmiri leaders had lived most of their lives behind bars, fighting for their right to self-determination.

Earlier this year, the AJK PM had said that Indian democracy is a gimmick to deceive the international community. Talking to a delegation of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) AJK chapter, who called on him here at prime minister secretariat on Friday, he said that India on one side was oppressing Kashmiri people through brutalities committed by its army, while on the other the Indian leadership presents a cosmetic democratic face to the world.
