KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has sent a list of 19 terrorists trained in Afghanistan to the Sindh government.

The list will be used by the provincial government to consult with federal institutions. The matter would then be raised with international organisations.

The total number of suspects runs into hundreds but the 19 mentioned on the list have accepted that they received training in Afghanistan, according to CTD Additional Inspector General (IG) Sanaullah Abbasi.

Mohammad Adil alias Usman, who is one of the suspects, received bomb-making skills by the Taliban in Afghanistan. He was part of the ‘Ghazi Force’ with the goal of assassinating former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. He was arrested in 2013.

Similarly, Abdul Ghafoor, who was arrested in 2015, got militancy training by the Taliban in Afghanistan and was a part of the Maulvi Agha Jan Group. He was a resident of Landhi, Karachi but hailed from Mohmand Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

On the other hand, another suspect, Abdul Ghafoor was a member of the Maulvi Agha Jan Group and obtained training from the Taliban in Afghanistan as well. The Karachi resident originally hailed from Mohmand Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
