PM Abbasi likely to inaugurate new Islamabad airport today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is likely to inaugurate new international airport of Islamabad today.

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) PIA first flight which will take off from Karachi will land at 11am at new Islamabad Airport and on this day first flight of national airlines will depart for Karachi at 12:30pm. Complete operation flights will start from next Thursday.

CAA said all international and domestic airlines have been informed on this count. It may be mentioned that first test flight of PIA had made successful landing at Islamabad International Airport on April 7. PIA President and Chief Executive Officer Musharraf Rasool Cyan was also present in first test flight.

New Islamabad International Airport encompasses 19 square kilometer area wherein all the facilities of parking of 15 aircrafts and landing of the biggest aircraft in the world are available.

New airport has two runways and each of them is 3 kilometer long. PM Abbasi has rejected the proposal for naming new Islamabad International Airport after Liaqat Ali Khan.
