ISLAMABAD: Political parties across the country are all set to hold rallies in different cities on Sunday as the election season draws near.

Pakistan People’s Party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari will make an address at Karachi’s Liaqatabad ground today. The latest rally comes at the heels of a number of rallies organised by the PPP recently.

With the elections closing in, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has launched party membership campaigns across the country to gain public support. PTI Chairman Imran Khan will also address a rally in Lahore today.

Meanwhile, Mardan will host a rally by Muttahida Majlis Amal (MMA) today where its president Maulana Fazlur Rehman and party leader Sirajul Haq will make an address. The MMA was revived in December last year after Siraj ul Haq announced that the MMA will contest in the elections under a single symbol. In addition, parties not involved in the Panama Papers controversy will be invited to join their alliance, he said.

On the other hand, Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali will demonstrate the ANP’s political strength in Swabi.

Finally, Dir Bala is set to be the site for Qaumi Watan Party’s rally with Aftab Sherpao addressing workers.
