KASUR: The health department on Friday initiated an inquiry into the death of a minor allegedly due to negligence by the doctor on duty at Chunian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, according to a local media outlet.

The death resulted in a protest at the hospital on Thursday as this was the third death allegedly due to negligence by the doctors on duty.

Mudassar had taken Um-e-Hadia to the hospital because she had a fever. Mudassar claimed that the doctor did not check his three-month-old daughter and instead asked an untrained staff member to administer an injection to the baby. Um-e-Hadia passed away within minutes after the injection was administered, according to the complainant.

Family members of the deceased placed her body outside the hospital premises and staged a protest. The protesters dispersed peacefully after assurances from the local administration.

Earlier, Hameeda Bibi had died at the hospital for not receiving proper treatment after which the chief minister’s inspection team arrived to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
