MARDAN: Referring to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif claimed on Saturday that those who chanted the slogans of new KP ruined the province.

Addressing a public meeting in Mardan, Shehbaz thanked the people for the warm welcome and said that he had come to Mardan for the first after becoming head of PML-N.

Shehbaz said that Imran was busy in staging sit-ins against the government instead of serving the people in KP.

He claimed that the PTI chief was a habitual liar. “Imran used to call metro as ‘Jangla Bus’,” he recalled and added that Peshawar’s Bus-Rapid-Transit (BRT) project had cost around Rs75 billion.

“If given chance, we (PML-N) will complete the Peshawar Metro project within five months,” he added.

The PML-N president said that not a single teaching hospital was built by the PTI-led KP government.

The Punjab CM accused Imran Khan of distributing land in Malam Jabba to his friends, adding that the PTI and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would be defeated in the upcoming general elections.

“I felt extremely sorry over Peshawar’s destruction,” he said, adding that the opponents did nothing except for staging sit-ins.

He noted that the forensic test in Asma murder case was conducted at a Lahore lab.

“Thousands of megawatts of electricity could be produced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but Imran gave minus-6MW during the five years,” the PML-N president said.

“Imran says who make record by planting a billion trees, but he spoke record lies day and night.”

Shehbaz further said that Pakhtuns were a principled, courageous and brave nation. He added that if they voted the PML-N into power, then his party would turn KP into Punjab and Peshawar into Lahore.

The PML-N held a rally in the Shergarh area of Mardan in which local leaders and party supporters gathered. Earlier on Twitter, Shehbaz wrote, “Will expose those who cheated the people of KP in the name of ‘change’ and wasted their time. The people of KP will throw them out through their vote in upcoming elections.”

KHATTAK RESPONDS:

Responding to the PML-N rally in Mardan, KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said their “five years were better than Shehbaz Sharif’s 30 years in Punjab.”

Speaking to media in Lahore, he said that Shehbaz should put aside his bias and he would see the change in KP.

He accused the federal government of creating hurdles in promotion of industry and investment. “Impediments are created in the way of issuing NOC to foreign investors,” he said.

In response to Shehbaz’s comment on Peshawar’s BRT project, he said the project had been initiated for there had been need for it, adding, “In Punjab, major projects are initiated for corruption and making money. The [KP] government received a broken-down province, but a journey for change was initiated through viable planning.”
