LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that in order for Pakistan to move ahead, the people must change their mentality.
The deposed PM was talking to party workers and leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Faisalabad and Gujranwala chapters.
“If we have been unable to bring about any substantial reform in the last 70 years, then we should apologise and seek forgiveness from the Almighty, take steps and make amends,” Nawaz Sharif, saif, adding that the people must change their way of thinking and alter their perception of things.
Nawaz Sharif also reiterated that respect must be accorded to the mandate given by the people.
Claiming that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan takes orders from “above” he said, “We must not engage in politics if we take orders from above.”
“This is hypocrisy,” he added.
Nawaz Sharif also said, “No prime minister in Pakistan has ever been able to complete his or her term and this does not happen in other countries”.
Sharif claimed that the corruption cases made against his family were weak.
