ISLAMABAD: Federal government has earmarked Rs 28.255 million for Ministry of State of Frontier Regions and Division (SAFRON) for various on-going and new schemes for the financial year 2018-19.
According to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), out of the total Rs 28.255 billion, only an amount of Rs 500 million is from foreign assistance.
A total of Rs 28.255 billion has been allocated for four on-going schemes, while Rs 500 million has been allocated for one new programme.
In the ongoing schemes, Rs 27.255 billion has been earmarked for Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) block allocation of which Rs 500 million has been provided by Asian Development Bank (ADB).
A total of Rs 1.117 billion has been allocated for construction of Nahqi Tunnel in Mohmand agency, which was approved back in June 2016. Rs 1.318 billion has been earmarked for Zyra-Dabori Road, Aurakzai Agency.
Similarly, Rs 319 million has been allocated for construction of Chao Tangi Small Dam, South Waziristan (SWA), which was approved back in 2015. Similarly, Rs 500 million has been earmarked for improvement of Ghalanai-Mohmand Gatt Road.
However, there is only one new unapproved scheme, the Bosaq Hydropower Project in Bajaur Agency, which has an estimated cost of Rs 500 billion and for which, Rs 500 million has been earmarked for 2018-19.
