ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Friday said that the articles 62 and 63 of the constitution are “black laws” and no politician is happy with Khawaja Asif’s disqualification.
“The policies of Ziaul Haq have not spared anyone, including his own children,” he told journalists.
“It would have been better if this matter was resolved in the Parliament,” he added in reference to Asif’s disqualification. “No politician, including me, is happy about his disqualification.”
On Thursday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) disqualified Khawaja Asif under Article 62 (1) of the Constitution due to his failure in disclosing his employment at a UAE-based company and the monthly salary from it.
With regards to the 2018-19 budget, Khursheed Shah said that “the government should not present a budget for more than four months”.
“The opposition will accept a budget of four months.”
The government has “started a new tradition of presenting the budget for the whole year”, he added.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) protested in the National Assembly against the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) decision to present a budget just ahead of the expiration of its tenure.
