LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lost three of its members of provincial assembly (MPAs) to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Thursday.

The PTI had undertaken disciplinary action against two of the three MPAs for allegedly selling their votes in the recent senate elections.

Ubaid Mayar, Zahid Durrani and Nagina Khan joined PPP after meeting Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House in Lahore.

Zahid Durrani was Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s parliamentary secretary for culture, Nagina Khan was parliamentary secretary for law and Ubaid Mayar was parliamentary secretary for law.

Talking to Pakistan Today, PTI MNA Shafqat Mahmood said, “The MPAs who left were already kicked out by the party.”

On April 18, Imran Khan accused 20 PTI lawmakers of selling their votes after a special committee formed by the party completed its investigations into suspected horse-trading in the Senate polls. The three MPAs were also among those believed by PTI leadership to have received “millions of rupees” in exchange for their votes in the Senate elections.

On the other hand, renowned political figure from Charsadda and former candidate from constituency PK-18, Pir Aftab Otamzai, called Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House, Lahore on Thursday and announced joining PPP.

PPP FATA President Akhunzada Chattan, Senator Behramand Tangi, Senator Sardar Ali Khan, Amir Fida Paracha, Ziaullah Bangash and Hidayatullah Khan were also present on the occasion.

Pir Aftab Otamzai reposed full confidence in the leadership of Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The former president congratulated Pir Aftab Otamzai on joining the party.
