BARCELONA: Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq and his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer have successfully beat top seeds and 2017 Wimbledon champions Łukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo in the Barcelona Open quarter-final held here on April 26.
Aisam and Rojer managed to defeat the Polish-Brazilian team after a thrilling encounter of 7-5, 3-6 and 10-5 on Barcelona’s clay courts.
The semi-final set to be held here on Friday will see Haq and Rojer take on Argentina’s Guido Pella and Nicolas Jarry of Chile.
Kubot and Melo managed to keep the pass where they were required to defend the breakpoint. The pair lost the site for the 11th game, and after the change of sides, Aisam and Rojer used the first set.
In round two, the Pakistani and Dutchman broke 2: 1 but instantly lost the advantage. However, the final round made it clear that the two would come out victorious.
