KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 17 alleged criminals, including three activists of a political party, from different parts of the city during their search operations.
According to the Rangers’ spokesman, a team of the law-enforcement officials carried out a raid in Zaman Town area to apprehend three activists of Muttahida Quami Movement-London (MQM-L). The accused were identified as Nasir Akbar, alias Builder, Farooq Ahmed and Muhammad Hussain.
Separately, a Rangers team also conducted search operation in the Kalakot area and detained four Lyari gang-war accused.
During the search operations in Landhi, Awami Colony, FB area, Bilal Colony and Zaman Town, the Rangers arrested nine street criminals and an alleged extortionist.
The spokesman further said that the arrested criminals were allegedly involved in target killing, extortion, robberies and drug peddling.
They also recovered illegal weapons, contraband and drugs from the possession of accused.
On April 13, the Sindh Rangers had claimed to have arrested five alleged criminals, including a target killer, from different areas of the city. The Rangers’ spokesman said that a team carried out targeted raids in Rizvia Society and apprehended an alleged target killer, Kashif Mehudin alias Maiti. Separately, Rangers arrested an alleged Lyari gang war accused, Nasir.
Earlier this month, five alleged criminals, including an extortionist, were arrested during operations in different parts of the metropolis. Rangers’ spokesman said that the paramilitary forces carried out a targeted raid in Solider Bazaar and arrested an extortionist, Saeed Ahmed.
