Imran welcomes Nadeem Afzal Chan in Mandi Bahauddin rally

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday welcomed former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nadeem Afzal Chan into the party and said that it will be beneficial for the people of the area.

The PTI chief, speaking at the rally organised to welcome Chan, said that his party will introduce a system which will favour the poor instead of the rich. He added that up till now, the state has made rich-friendly policies but when his party will come in power, it will cater to the interests of poor.

“Being silent in front of the oppressors is a sin,” Imran said, adding that if they come to power, children of farmers will get a quality education.

Imran said that the sugarcane farmers are not getting the appropriate price from the sugarcane mill owners, adding that he will put his maximum effort to get a better rate for the farmers.

Taking a jibe at Chan’s former party, he said that the PPP has moved far away from the Bhutto’s ideals.

“Quaid called for a welfare state. I am loyal till I stand for the party’s manifesto but if I start making palaces on the money of poor, there is no need for the people to call me their leader,” he said.

He added that the poor in the country don’t get basic facilities of health and education.

Formally announcing to join the party, Nadeem Afzal Chan said that he will always have affection for the PPP but he has left it for the sake of the people.

“We are with Imran in his Jihad against Nawaz,” he said. “No one other than Imran can send Nawaz to jail and that is why I support him unconditionally,” he added.

Chan said that he remains committed to the ideology of Bhutto, but if the PPP’s ideology is now Sharjeel Memon – a PPP leader facing corruption charges – then he is better without it.

Only PTI chief Imran Khan can defeat the Sharifs in Punjab, said Nadeem Afzal Chan.  “The Sharif family has seized Punjab which once used to be under the sway of Bhuttos,” he added.

Nadeem Afzal Chan also criticised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, saying that the Bhutto scion was questioning his ideology. “Bilawal says I’m not an ideological worker. Is his ideology Bhuttoism?” he asked.
Chan said that his politics did not depend on any particular party. He promised to work sincerely for PTI as its new member.
