Karachi police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered a kidnapped child in a raid which killed two suspects during a gunfire exchange.
The five-year-old was on the way to his school accompanied by parents when he was abducted by two men in a vehicle as another two demanded ransom. One of the members of the gang kept driving the car through the area as negotiations between the kidnappers and parents continued.
The abductors initially demanded Rs170 million as ransom but scaled down the demand to Rs70 million as the talks progressed. Policemen conducting snap traffic checks in the area detected the vehicle the men were traveling in as the incident transpired. However, two suspects were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire.
