On April 19, Meesha Shafi accused colleague and singer-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.

Meesha, who is an example of a strong, empowered woman, known to speak her mind has alleged that Zafar has harassed her on “more than one occasion,” adding that, “These incidences did not happen when I was young, or just entering the industry. This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”

In a Twitter post, the singer shared her experience in a note with the caption, “Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out…but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore.”

On Monday, Ali Zafar sent a legal notice of Rs 100 million to singer Meesha Shafi after the latter leveled allegations of sexual harassment against her colleague.

The actor maintained that Meesha had falsely accused him of sexually harassing her more than once.

According to the notice, a defamation suit would be filed against Meesha upon her failure to issue an apology to Ali on the electronic media within two weeks.

Advocate Ali Sibtain Fazli, counsel of Ali Zafar, said the media would be informed about the proceedings of this case.

Meanwhile, Earlier in the day, Meesha Shafi hired Muhammad Ahmad Pansota and Nighat Dad as her legal team to oversee issue related to her sexual harassment claim against pop star Ali Zafar.

On her Twitter handle, Shafi wrote: “I have appointed Barrister @pansota1 and @nighatdad as my legal counsels to look after all issues pertaining to my sexual harassment claim against Ali Zafar. Media is requested to contact them to get any update on the ongoing issue.”
