IGP orders strict action against land grabbers

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Sultan Azam Temuri on Monday directed the police officials for strict action against those illegal occupying the properties of others and involved in harassing people through aerial firing.

He made these directions while chairing a meeting attended among others by DIG Operations Waqar Ahmed Chohan, AIG Operations Asmatullah Junejo, SSP Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi, AIG for Special Branch Liaquat Hyat Niazi, SP Investigation Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, SP Hassam Bin Iqbal, SP Muhammad Amir Khan Niazi, SP Dr Mustfa Tanveer and other senior officials.

The police chief ordered for effective policing measures through getting assistance from the safe city project and to make functional the citizens coordination committees. He also asked to computerise all record of the police stations and to contact complainants on regular basis to inform them about development in their matters.

He asked for briefing ad checking of the performance of investigation officers on regular basis and strict action against those involved in sluggish policing. He directed all police officials to improve their performance by effectively combating crime and ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders at the earliest.

He directed the police officials to take effective steps to control crime and adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people. He categorically asked all police officials to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens.

Temuri stressed for speedy disposal of the cases and their investigation purely on merit. He said that the investigation on pending cases should be completed at earliest as progress on such cases would be reviewed soon. He stressed to adopt polite attitude with public and focus on resolving their public complaints.

He also asked to ensure registration of the cases on merit and win the support of people through performance. He termed five elements crucial for a force to set example for others. These five elements include public friendly, will to serve, true professionalism, ensuring equal implementation of law and to be corruption free.

The police chief said that these five values should be adopted by each personnel of the Islamabad Police to make it exemplary for others.
