182 police personnel still on Sharif family’s security protocol

ISLAMABAD: As many as 354 police personnel including nine elite teams are not only performing the security duties of the current parliamentarians but also of the old ones, according to media reports.

Sources said that most of the police personnel were performing the security protocol duties of the Sharif family. Currently, 182 police officials and six elite teams are providing security to the Sharif family, they added.

According to reports, the son-in-law of Punjab CM was also availing government-provided security facilities. According to the official documents, as many as 135 police personnel, including six elite teams, were providing security duty of the ex-PM Nawaz Sharif.

Sources further stated that 24 personnel were performing the security duties at Sharif family’s Raiwind residence in Lahore.

Likewise, 28 police personnel and two elite teams were on security protocol of the former prime minister Syed Yousif Raza Gillani. As many as 27 police officials were performing the security duties of the family members of Salman Teseer. Some 306 police personnel were during duty in Lahore region as nine elite force teams also included in it.

In Sheikhpura region, eight security personnel were performing duties of parliamentarians and common persons as well. In Gujranwala region, as many as nine personnel were perfuming the duties of parliamentarians, sources claimed.

JUI-F DENIES SEEKING SECURITY FOR FAZL:

Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Sunday denied that it had not requested Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide extra-security for its chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

JUI-F’s provincial spokesman Abdul Jalil Jan refuted the reports on social media that the personal secretary of Maulana Fazlur Rehman had written a letter to the KP IGP for the provision of extra security owing to the security threats.

On Thursday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar directed police chiefs of all provinces to withdraw the security protocol provided to influential individuals not entitled to the official security within 24 hours.

  1. Orders that are not strictly obeyed must not be issued. This ecourages defiance and this is what Sharifs want.
