FAISALABAD: Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Faisalabad on Sunday suspended Station House Officer (SHO) of Jaranwala police station on the charges of abusing powers and taking illegal gratifications.
Punjab police spokesman said that a local trader had filed a complaint with the Faisalabad RPO, contending that Jaranwala SHO Mian Abid illegally implicated him in a dacoity case and received bribe worth Rs 100,000 bribe from him for his release later on.
The RPO not only suspended the SHO but also directed Jaranwala Superintendent of Police (SP) Shahbaz Elahi to probe the matter and submit an inquiry report at the earliest for further action.
On Friday, it was reported that four police officials of Lahore’s Mughalpura police station, including a sub-inspector, involved in torturing a journalist were suspended.
Civil Lines Operations Superintendent of Police Raza Safdar Kazmi suspended the officials, including SI Abdul Ghaffar, Head Constable Jamshed Iqbal, Constable Muhammad Ashfaq and Constable Khurram Shahzad for misconduct and inefficiency. “The following police officers posted at police station Mughalpura, Lahore, are hereby placed under suspension and closed to headquarters Civil Lines division Lahore with immediate effect on account of misconduct, inefficiency,” a notification read.
It added, “During the suspension, they will draw pay along with usual allowances as admissible under the rules.”
