ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s political narrative can divide Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) into two factions.
Speaking to a local news channel, the PTI leader said that no one had pushed the ruling party or Nawaz to the sidelines.
“He must pay attention to what he has said and done,” said Mehmood. “If he continues to follow his narrative, his party will split into two factions,” he added.
He said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was losing its position in Punjab with great speed and they would not be able to form a government in the province.
On Saturday, Sharif had challenged PTI Chairman Imran Khan to explain who ordered him to vote for Asif Ali Zardari’s candidate in the recent Senate elections and what were his motivations behind voting for PPP’s electoral symbol – arrow.
Speaking to media after holding talks with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former finance minister Ishaq Dar, Sharif had referred to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq’s statement in which he said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had told him that PTI was “ordered from the top” to vote for Sadiq Sanjrani and PPP’s Saleem Mandviwala for the Senate chairman and deputy chairman posts.
The former premier had said that by voting for PPP, Khan proved that he and other political parties had always been looking for “orders from the top”, while PML-N was the only party that took dictation only from the people.
Sharif had said that the Senate chairman and deputy chairman stood discredited given the way the Balochistan Assembly and his party were taken over and the manner in which the Senate elections were held and after PTI’s confession of horse-trading.
He had said that that he was being targeted and put under immense pressure, but he was not the one to stay out of Pakistan and would not leave the country for there was a difference between him and Pervez Musharraf.
