Karachi mayor says load-shedding is making life difficult for Karachites

KARACHI: Mayor Waseem Akhtar said on Friday that constant load-shedding and over-billing have made life difficult for the residents of Karachi.

He said that Karachi Electric (KE) must take necessary measures and ensure proper supply of electricity to different areas of the city or the situation can get worse in the hot weather.

Reviewing the situation created in the city owing to unscheduled and long power breakdowns, he said the residential, as well as commercial centers, have been affected heavily and the students have trouble in preparing for their examination and are forced appearing in their exams without having electricity.

The mayor said the protests against persistent load shedding are proof of this fact that the people are in immense turmoil.

He said persistent power breakdowns have also caused failure of costly electric items and the people are facing losses, which he said is very unfortunate. Akhtar said the government and concerned organisations must take notice of this situation and do something to provide relief to the citizens who are suffering from load shedding and overbilling in electricity bills.

He said this is unfortunate that Karachites are facing this dilemma of persistent load shedding. KKE must solve the current power crisis without delay and stop the cutting of power supply for a longer duration, he concluded.
