GUJRAT: Three university students on Thursday received severe burn injuries after they were subjected to an acid attack in the Danga area of the city.
According to media reports, the girls were standing at a bus stop when three assailants, riding a motorcycle, threw acid on them.
The girls were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition for medical treatment.
After carrying out the assault, two of the suspects fled the scene, however, passersby managed to capture the third one.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and has sought a report from the Gujrat DPO. The chief minister has also ordered provision of proper medical treatment to the victims.
Two of the girls are said to be sisters, while the third one was a friend of theirs.
