Landlord who offers ‘sex for rent’ says he isn’t doing anything illegal

A landlord in United Kingdom (UK) who is offering free accommodation in return for sex insisted on Tuesday that he is not doing anything illegal, The Independent reported.

The man, whose identity was concealed, said that he did not see anything wrong with a “friends with benefits” arrangement with his tenants as long as both parties were aware of what they were signing up for.

During an appearance on a television show, the man, who was previously married and has children, said that he was strict about the age of those who came to live with him and said that he did not respond to minors under the age of 18 who got in contact with him.

The interview followed an investigation which claimed that 250,000 women were being offered free or discounted rent in exchange for sexual favours in UK.

The landlord, who has young daughter, said that he had already had three long-term arrangements.

“I am very forward and honest and I do not tell lies. I have been married and I have a family. But I find that modern day relationships do not work and if they do, they only work for a short period of time,” he said.

“Most females lie. The same as most males do,” he said. “They are working to an agenda whereas I do not, I am very honest and I am very upfront,” he added.

He said that his children knew about his renting arrangements and that he was “looking for fun” and was “very privileged” and that he worked very hard.

He said that he spends three, four or five days with someone before he decides whether they are suitable to live with, but there is no physical contact during this time.

“More than a fully-stocked fridge, I offer them a life. I have had three long-term partners and all of them had their own businesses and their own family and they are still in touch with me. They still all talk to me. I am not a pervert … It is an arranged relationship,” he added.

The man, who said that he was offering tenants an opportunity to improve their life and was not looking for someone vulnerable, insisted that he had a “fantastic life” and he just wanted to “share it”.
