LONDON: A demonstration was held by expat Kashmiris at the Parliament Square in London on Wednesday against the atrocities committed by Indian troops in Kashmir.
The protesters demanded justice for the eight-year-old girl Aasifa Bano who was raped and murdered in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). They also condemned the behaviour of Indian forces in the region, referring to it as ‘State-sponsored terrorism’.
The protest was held as the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in London for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2018.
The demonstration was also joined via video-link by important Kashmiri leads such as Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Zamruda Habib and Aasiya Andrabi.
The Kashmiri community demanded an end to the Indian occupation of Kashmir.
Salient features of the Kashmir dispute were also discussed at a round table by the road and Narendra Modi listened to Hurriyat leaders inside the British Parliament.
