ISLAMABAD: Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, the incumbent chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), on Wednesday asked the members of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of National Assembly to have faith in the accountability watchdog.

In a briefing to the PAC, the NAB chief assured the committee members that all the pending cases will soon be dealt.

Talking about Ali Jahangir Siddiqui, the envoy designate to the US, Iqbal said that steps have been taken to place his name on the Exit Control List (ECL) but a court had refrained the watchdog from further proceedings in this regard.

After the PAC hearing, he told the media that no power can pull the strings of the bureau.

Replying to a question, the Iqbal said that volume of corruption is discussed when it is in limits, but the situation is far worse now.”PAC has expressed confidence in NAB. Currently, there is no power which can pull the strings of the bureau, I will take my bag and quit the institution if a string is pulled,” he added.

He made it clear the NAB is not taking any “revenge” from anyone.

Iqbal said that it is not his duty to refrain Nawaz Sharif from leaving the country, adding that bureau has nothing to do with holding general elections.
