‘Technical education vital for development, tackling unemployment’

LAHORE: Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) Chairperson Yasmin Meherun Nisa Tuesday emphasised the need for technical education saying that it was necessary for any society to develop.

Addressing the annual ceremony of Abbas College of Technology (ACT) held at Jinnah Hall here, Yasmin said that unemployment could also be reduced by imparting technical education and it was the need of the hour to upgrade the curriculum.

Government Vocation Training Institute (GVTI) Principal Dew Samaj Road, Saima Choudhry, Major (r) Naeem Khalid, Administrator Anjuman Madrasatul Banat, PBTE Secretary Imtiaz Nazeer, PBTE Deputy Secretary Salman, ACT Project Director Shahid Jahangir, PBTE Senior Officer Shabbir, ACT Admin Officer Nadia Shahid, Malik Jamil from TEVTA, ACT staff and a large number of students attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Shahid Jahangir said that ACT was playing an important role in the skills development of the youth because to seek job without technical education was difficult.

He further said that ACT was paying special attention to the character building of the students.

Later, Yasmin Meherun Nisa, Saima Choudhry, Naeem Khalid and other guests distributed shields and other prizes among the high achievers and staff members of the college. Projects made by students were also displayed at the event.
