LAHORE: Punjab Government spokesman Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, while regretting the “irresponsible” statements from certain politicians over the firing incident at apex court judge’s residence, Tuesday said the issue was highly sensitive and political leaders should avoid unnecessary comments till the completion of the inquiry.

He said the Supreme Court was monitoring all developments on the investigation and the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), comprising representatives from all departments concerned, was also probing on a professional pace.

“The JIT would submit its report to the concerned government officials and to the apex court as well,” said the spokesman.

It is pertinent to note that two separate firing incidents, one on Saturday night while another on Sunday morning, took place outside the residence of Justice Ijaz.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar immediately summoned the inspector general of Punjab (IGP) in this connection and vowed to monitor the situation himself.

Later, Punjab government formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the incident.
