ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday dismissed a petition of former finance minister Shaukat Tarin seeking acquittal in a reference related to the alleged corruption in Rental Power Project (RPP) case.

A divisional bench of IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani announced the judgment in an appeal of former finance minister, which was earlier reserved by the bench.

The petitioner had taken the stance in his plea that the specific project was approved by the then cabinet and stated that he was not involved in the corruption scam. He, therefore, requested to turn down the accountability court trial against him.

After hearing the arguments from both sides at large, the divisional bench had reserved its judgment in the case and finally dismissed the petition while announcing its decision on the last day.
