Health centres to be connected with medical colleges through video link: minister

SARGODHA: Punjab Health Minister Khwaja Imran Nazir Tuesday said that all health centres and hospitals across the province were being connected with medical colleges and public sector hospitals through video link.

Talking to the media during his visit to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Kotmomin, the minister said the facility would help provide better medical treatment facilities to the people after consultation with qualified doctors of other hospitals through video calls.

He directed the administration to take action against quacks and people involved in illegal medical practices, and also called for action against barbers ignoring health requirements during their work.

He said barbers and quacks were spreading fatal diseases including HIV-AIDS and Hepatitis.

Nazir said the Punjab government was providing free medicines to patients at emergency wards, adding that all medicines available in the hospitals were according to international standards.

The minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Emergency and AIDS Centre established at a cost of Rs6.5 million.
