RAHIM YAR KHAN: At the dawn of every day in Sadiqabad, Rubina gets her motorcyvle ready, not just to drop her children but also go around the city to pick and drop the people throughout the day as she is the sole bread earner in the house since the death of her husband.
Talking to media, Rubina said that there is nothing for her to be ashamed of as she has taken to the right way to earn a living.
In the start, people of the area will look down upon her for choosing the profession of motorcycle-rickshaw driving, she stated, but things started to get better with time.
“I didn’t lose my spirit,” she said.
Rubina, a resident of Abid Colony, drops her two daughters and son, along with children from the neighbourhood in the morning. After that, she drives her rickshaw to the bazaar where she picks the rides for the day. From this income of driving, she pays fees of her children and puts food on the table.
The education of my children is the sole cause which keeps me going, Rubina believes.
