PTI’s roadside membership camps vanish as Imran Khan ends tour: report

RAWALPINDI: Membership camps for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were moved to offices shortly after party chief Imran Khan was done with his tour of the city, reported a local media outlet.

According to the local MPAs, this decision was taken because of the length of the process of verifying prospective members and entering their official data.

However, they also said that the party has not officially announced the move and that they were unaware of the offices where membership cards are being issued.

10 membership camps were set on Murree Road by the PTI on April 8. However, according to a senior party leader, the camps were set up to advertise the names and photos of party ticket candidates for the upcoming general elections.

According to the official, PTI was much more organised in the 2013 general election since everything was managed by senior leaders.

However, for the last few years, the party in the district was headless, local chapters were divided into at least three groups in all four districts of the Rawalpindi division and the leaders of these groups were not interested in investing in membership drive camps further, he added.
