‘PIA not to be privatised without employees’ consent’

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan said on Monday said that no decision would be made regarding the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) without the consent of the employees of the national carrier.

He was talking to the Air League of PIA delegation led by Central President Shamim Akmal who called on him in his office on Monday.

He said the employees of the PIA were the real custodian of the national carrier, assuring that the decisions would be made with the consent of all stakeholders. President of Islamabad chapter of Air League of PIA Usman Khan was also present on this occasion.

The members of the delegation apprised the adviser about the problems faced by the PIA’s employee and put forward their suggestions. The adviser assured them to take all necessary steps to resolve their grievances on a priority basis and said that efforts were being made to uplift the standards of the national carrier.

Mehtab also assured the delegation that a 10 percent incremental allowances would be given to the employees of the engineering department of the national airline.

He directed the officials concerned to implement the decision without delay, informing that the approval of the provision of the incremental allowance would be given in the next meeting of the board of directors.

Talking to the delegation, the adviser said that incumbent government of PML-N was well-aware of the issues. The adviser assured the delegation of taking necessary action to address their grievances without delay.
