Five cops booked for allegedly killing detainee

LARKANA: Local police on Monday registered a First Information Report (FIR) at Illahi Bux police station under Sections 302 on a statement of Javed Ali Shah against five accused including Station House Officer (SHO) Iqbal Kandhro for allegedly killing of 18-year Kashif Ali Shah in police torture during the arrest the other day.

The deceased was brought dead to the Chandka Medical College Hospital by police, said hospital sources.

He was arrested by Illahi Bux police station of Bakrani Taluka on theft charges a few days ago when an influential political person asked the SHO for his arrest.

The heirs of the deceased reached the hospital where they started chanting slogans against police for the merciless and brutal beating of the victim.

The heirs told the media that some goods were stolen from the shop of Jabbar & Ghaffar Siyal in a nearby village (home village of Sindh home minister) and the police arrested deceased Kashif Shah and Ramiz Shah and locked them up.

The police released Ramiz Shah and told him to bring Rs20000 as bribe in order for Kashif to be released, the heirs told the Larkana SSP Tanveer Tunio when he visited the hospital after the body of the deceased reached there. They further said that suddenly police informed them that deceased Kashif had committed suicide inside the lockup by hanging himself.

They alleged that their young boy has been killed by police in torture. They said deceased was a 9th class student They further alleged that they have been targeted by influential people of Siyal community.

SSP took notice of the issue and removed SHO Iqbal Kandhro and other officers. The heirs appealed to Sindh IGP and other higher government authorities to order a thorough probe into the killing of the youth.
