LAHORE: Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani arrived in Lahore from Islamabad via train on Sunday.
The Senate chairman opted to travel to Lahore on a train, despite the tradition of taking air trips, in his first visit to the provincial capital since he took the post last month.
He was received by Pakistan Railways CEO Javaid Anwar and Divisional Superintendent Lahore Sufian Dogar upon arrival. The railway officials thanked the newly-elected Senate chairman for choosing train for the journey.
While most political leaders travel to different cities in an aeroplane, Sanjrani set a different precedent in an effort to promote travel by train.
Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer Javaid Anwar and Lahore Divisional Superintendent Sufian Dogar welcomed Sanjrani and thanked him for selecting train as a mean of traveling.
Upon his arrival in the city, the PR officers presented a bouquet on behalf of Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.
While speaking to media at the occasion, Sanjrani said he will visit Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum and Data Darbar during his stay in the city.
The Senate chairman will visit the sites on Monday morning.
Previously, President Mamnoon Hussain had traveled from Lahore to Rawalpindi in Subak Kharam Express on July 20, 2017.
