- Decides to woo Lahorites through musical concert at Minar-e-Pakistan on April 29
- Imran Khan to visit Lahore on April 19, 24
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided on Saturday to woo voters and celebrate the lifetime disqualification of Nawaz Sharif through a musical concert at Minar-e-Pakistan on April 29, Pakistan Today has learnt.
According to the reliable sources, renowned singers of the country including Ibbrar-ul- Haq, Atta Ullah Isa Khelvi and other musicians will perform during a public rally being organised by the party in which delegations from Peshawar and Karachi will also come through trains.
The apparent target of the power show is to hit voters of Walled City, the stronghold of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), in the wake of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s permanent disqualification ruled by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
It has also been learnt that a spectacular show of fireworks will also be organised to enthral the party leaders and workers. Inside sources confirmed that the responsibility of the mega event has been given to the aspirants for tickets of provincial assemblies and National Assembly to prove their strength and show their fits.
The mega event will be held on April 29, sources said and added that Imran Khan will reach a week before the event to warm up workers and leaders. Abdul Aleem Khan will be the head of the administrative committee. He will visit Minar-e-Pakistan on April 16 and review arrangements.
The PTI central leadership including party’s vice chairman Shah Mehmood Quershi, Asad Umar, Jehanigir Khan Tareen and Aleem Khan will hold corner meetings ahead of the big rally planned for April 29.
The local leaders including chairpersons and vice chairpersons of union councils have also been given the task to ensure maximum participation of the workers in the big public rally.
PTI Central Punjab President Abdul Aleem Khan confirmed the visit of Imran Khan to the city on April 19 and April 24, and plan on arranging the musical concert. He said the PTI would consult the business community, youth, leaders of Insaf Students Federation (ISF) as well as the leaders of other organisations for finalising the visit of Imran Khan to Lahore.
Aleem said, “Imran Khan will personally visit Minar-e-Pakistan a day before the mega event to review arrangements there,” adding, “The committee for arranging stage, finance and advisory will be formed for the huge rally.”
“We will not let Sharifs go with their looted money and will expose them before the public,” PTI MPA Murad Rass said. “The rally in Lahore will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of the Sharif family who looted the country with both hands and did nothing in return,” he added.
“Lahore is the stronghold of the PTI and Lahorites love Imran Khan. They had voted in favour of Imran Khan in 2013 general elections but the Sharif brothers rigged the election and stole mandate.”
“Minar-e-Pakistan is the place where Imran Khan had organised his first-ever huge rally in the city which had opened the eyes of the Sharifs. This rally will too prove historic and pay the way for the victory of the party in upcoming general elections,” he concluded.
