Police raids in Karachi lead to arrests of 21 suspects

KARACHI: 21 suspects have been arrested after raids conducted by law enforcement agencies in various parts of Karachi early on Saturday.

Korangi and Landhi were the sites from which 9 suspects were arrested after Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) member Raesuddin alias Mama shared intelligence on their whereabouts.

Raes was arrested on March 27 from the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport and was sought by the police in connection with extortion and several murders. The former sector-in-charge of MQM-L in Korangi is also the primary suspect in the Chakra Goth attack that killed three police personnel and injured 27.

In addition, seven suspects have been arrested due to allegations of land grabbing in Surjani Town, though one suspect, Maulana Abdul Raheem, succeeded in escaping. Three suspects were arrested from Iqbal Town and two from Darakhshan.

Weapons and assorted items were recovered from their possession.
