Pakistani weightlifters return home from CW Games 2018

LAHORE: Pakistani weightlifters Nooh Dastagir Butt and Taha Talib have come home after winning bronze for the country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

Nooh, who is 22 years old, bagged bronze in the +105kg weightlifting competition, while Taha Talib won a bronze medal in the men’s 62 Kg weightlifting competition.

Nooh success continued when he successfully lifted 222 Kg after he conquered lifting 173 Kg. He was able to lift the weight in his first clean and jerk attempt which sealed his chance of a medal.

He further on attempted to lift 228 Kg in a second and 231 Kg in a third attempt to reach gold but could not make it.

However, his lifting of 395 Kg is a junior commonwealth record.

Pakistan bagged one more medal on Thursday when Mohammad Bilal wrestled to score Pakistan’s third medal of the games.
