ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 13 announced in a verdict that disqualification under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution is for life, thereby permanently barring Jahangir Tareen from holding public office.

2002: Jahangir Tareen is elected into the National Assembly from NA-195 on Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid’s (PML-Q) ticket and serves as special adviser on agriculture and social sector initiatives to Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
2004: Tareen becomes the Federal Minister for Industries and Production and retains the post till 2007.
2008: Jahangir Tareen is re-elected into the National Assembly on the ticked of Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML- F).
2011: Resigns from the National Assembly and joins Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
September 2013: Becomes the Secretary General of PTI.
2013 General Elections: Jahangir Tareen contests on PTI ticket from NA-154 but fails in his quest. Tareen files against alleged irregularities.
2015: Jahangir Tareen’s allegations prove accurate and the seat becomes vacant. Tareen contests again and this time becomes successful.
15 December 2017: Tareen is disqualified from holding public office by the Supreme Court.
16 December 2017: He resigns as the Secretary General of PTI.

April 13 2018: The Supreme Court declares Jahangir Tareen to be ineligible from holding public office for life.
