Construction of AHS new five-storey building almost completed

KARACHI: Much awaited construction work for the expansion of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) has almost completed and the new section is likely to open for public in the month of June this year, it was learned on Friday.

While talking to media, ASH Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Anwer said that the construction work of five-story building had started about five years ago under Annual Development Program (ADP) of Sindh government and it was supposed to be completed in mid of 2014 but the construction work was delayed due to some issues.

He said the construction work of the expanded section of the hospital is now at a finishing stage and it is likely to open in coming June.

He informed that Sindh government has also made Sindh Government New Karachi Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Asif Zaman the chairman of Tender Committee (TC) to purchase equipment for ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, OT complex and Pediatric Emergency departments.

He said that unfortunately no representative of ASH has been included in this TC formed by Sindh government to purchase equipment for the new wards.

Dr Anwer said five-storied building will house ENT &  Eye OPDs (ground floor), Ophthalmology Ward (1st floor), ENT Ward (2nd floor),  Maxillofacial Surgery Ward (3rd Floor), OT Complex (4th floor). However, the Pediatric Emergency Department would be established in the basement of the new building.
