KARACHI: Unannounced loadshedding continued to trouble citizens in Karachi as outages hit several areas on Thursday.
Power supply to cities different areas including Korangi, Landhi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Aizzabad remained suspended for up to seven to eight hours.
The unannounced loadshedding disturbed residents, forcing them to stay up till late night.
Not only are the citizens deprived of water, but those who have to go to office, school and college in the morning are also disturbed.
A four-member team of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will today visit the office of Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Limited.
Earlier, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) took notice of additional 10-hour load-shedding in Karachi and constituted a high-level committee to probe into unscheduled load-shedding in Karachi.
The NEPRA has directed KE to submit a detailed report on the issue.
The Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has written two letters to Prime Minister Abbasi to take notice of the matter.
Residents of the metropolis face prolonged and unannounced load-shedding while temperature has also risen above the past averages around this time of the year.
Routine life has been hindered as outages become frequent with some areas rendered without electricity at least three to four times a day.
Karachi Electric has cited low gas pressure being supplied by the Sui Southern Gas Company as the reason behind the load-shedding in many areas of the metropolis. According to KE spokesperson, power plants have been affected by a gas shortfall of 100mmcf.
