Three contempt of court petitions against Nawaz dismissed

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday dismissed three separate contempt of court petitions against former prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif for being ineffective.

A three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up the cases against Nawaz Sharif for hearing.

Two contempt of court petitions against Nawaz were filed in connection with the appointment of Civil Aviation DG in which the former premier was charged with appointing Air Marshal (r) Khalid Qureshi against the court decision.

The petitions were filed separately by Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, Pakistan Airlines Pilots Association and Shahid Orakzai.
