KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmakers staged a protest against corruption in the Sindh government outside the provincial assembly on Thursday.

“The incumbent government in Sindh has lost its moral standing,” PTI’s parliamentary leader Khurram Sher Zaman stated, adding that all the provincial government wanted to do was loot and plunder.

Zaman had earlier tried to move an adjournment motion in the assembly requesting the speaker to take up the issue and discuss the matter in the house.

However, provincial minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro opposing the motion said: “It is technically unfit to be discussed in this session.”

Later, the speaker dismissed Zaman’s plea amid opposition’s protest.

Staging their protest outside the assembly, the legislators chanted their slogan “Sindh ko insaaf do, 10 saal ka jawab do [Give justice to Sindh, justify the last ten years]”.

Zaman, who was flanked by Samar Ali Khan, waived the auditor general’s book and drew the media’s attention.

“Every year the auditor general of Pakistan points out discrepancies of billions of rupees in the funds of the Sindh government, but no one takes notice of it,” he said, adding that the PTI has always has raised the issue many times but to no avail.
