LAHORE: The influential land mafia has occupied land belonging to Canadian businessman in Raiwaind area of the city due to the negligence of police and concerned authorities in this regard.
The mafia is trying to grab the lands of Canadian citizens Sheikh Daud Ashraf and Waqas Qadeer Dar, while the Raiwind city police are reluctant to take any action against the powerful accused.
Meanwhile, the land grabbers namely Rana Izhar, Rana Safdar, Ali Dogar and Mansha continue to deploy various tactics to occupy the lands illegally.
Another victim, former prosecutor general of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Waqas Qadeer Dar, owns land measuring 11 kanals and 14 marlas near Raiwind Bypass on Sundar Road. His family has obtained a stay order from the court; however, the land-grabbers are harassing the employees of both victims regardless.
Sheikh Daud has gotten 35 cases of forgery registered against the accused in various police stations of the city and both men have also appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar to take suo moto notice of the issue.
Sheikh Daud said he is perturbed over the illegal occupation of his land in Raiwind. “I am permanently settled in Canada for managing my business there. The influential land grabbers have prepared a fake land deed to capture my land. Interestingly, the date they have mentioned on the deed is that one in which I was not present in Pakistan. I am pillar to post and worried even while I am in Canada. My whole family is worried about the issue. I urge the Justice Nisar to take suo moto notice of my case as no one in Pakistan is listening to my voice.”
Sheikh Daud also informed that he has moved an application in the court of civil judge Imran Khan and attached all proofs of his property with the application.
According to documents and police reports available with Pakistan Today, 25-armed people from the mafia including Rana Izhar and Rana Safdar resorted to indiscriminate firing on employee Sheikh Daud’s employee Jamil Ahmed, abused him and went on to damage luggage and other property in the house.
They intimidated Jamil Ahmed and other employees and threatened them of dire consequences. Raiwind City Police did not go to the location and decided to sit this one out despite being informed of this incident several times.
